Deductive reasoning at work in the coop

Twin's egg is a translucent creamy like color -like a bride's pale nail polish. The only one of its kind in the bunch. I had her pegged a blue egg layer but I was tricked. These eggs didn't start showing up until this spring so she's a newer layer.

Meet Twin: She is in the egg box and in the top tier of branches all the time so she is easy to start with.

The flock I have are all 1-year olds. I’ve never been able to separate out who is laying what. Unlike other flock owners I’ve heard from, I am not experienced when it comes to knowing which breed is which.

I’m embarrassed.

Delivered to my local post office last spring were twenty-five chicks, five different breeds cause I wanted to see a little bit of everything. I sold half of them and several didn’t survive the transition so I really have no idea what I actually ended up with -only that they are all very fun.I’ve begun to quarantine one hen in the coop box at a time until I can go through all six and see who is laying what.

(Like I don’t have enough to do already with a full-time job, starting my own business, two housemates, a boyfriend, taxes to do, a furnace that needs all new duct work, and an energetic puppy -but this will be fun!)
